The first thing you want to do when your Ge refrigerator stop working is listen to see if you have 2 fans and a compressor running, you will hear one fan running inside of the freezer section and you should hear the other fan running in the back of the refrigerator where the compressor is also located, Lets say you hear the Evaporator Fan Motor running and the Condessor Fan Motor running but, the compessor is not runnuing you will want to check
1. Are the compressor relay overload bad? most of the time you can remove relay and shake it to tell if bad, bad relays normally sound like sand inside relay when you shake it and they are bad.2. Test Contitunity between the pins on compessor? (No contitunity between pins means bad compressor.)
3. Test the Mother Board in the rear of refrigerator ? (unplug refrigerator) remove back panel and remove the blue 3 wire plug from the board and jump a wire from >> line to compressor and then turn refrigerator back on if the compreesor comes on the replace the mother board. ( do not plug the blue plug on the board while the jumper wire is still attached )
Now lets say the compressor is running and the condessor fan motor is running but the evaporator fan motor is not running.1. Is there power getting to the Evap Fan Motor? ( most ge evap motors run on DC power)
If power is getting to the fan then replace the part here
2. If no power to the evaporator fan motor then replace the mother board. here
Now lets say that you have the Compressor running and the Evaporator Fan Motor running but the Condessor Fan motor is Not running then lets check
1. Is there power getting to the Condessor Fan Motor?
If power is getting to the Condessor Fan Motor Then replace the part. Get Part Price
